Our Lessons

North Field Farm offers horseback riding and show jumping lessons from $40 per session. Call for details, available time slots, and frequency.

Interested young riders start with lessons that teach the basics of position and balance, and in our program, stress control. Effective control is a central theme throughout lessons and training at North Field Farm.

Our training goal is to teach 8 years olds who can outride their parents on vacation trail rides and 10 to 12 year olds who can and do win at shows in jumper classes.

What to expect from us:

We are not a "riding lesson factory". The atmosphere at North Field Farm is very much a family environment where everyone gets to know one another and the focus is much more on the sport than on business.

Our horseback riding lessons and jumping lessons also teach the basics of grooming, horse handling, saddling, and unsaddling as well as riding. Riders are encouraged to advance but are never pushed and never ignored. Our horses are well trained, fed and in good condition and we strive to match rider and horse skill levels as much as possible.

What is expected of the rider:

Please be on time, or cancel your lesson as early as possible as a courtesy to your trainer. An instructor, horse and arena time will be reserved for you so fees may apply if you are late or fail to show up for scheduled lessons.

Please wear conservative attire, good condition leather shoes ( no flip-flops) and a proper riding helmet.

Please be respectful of others at all times. Disruptive behavior cannot be allowed. This includes running and shouting in the stables, stone or stick throwing, tree or building climbing, all of which are distracting to the riders, trainers and the horses. Younger brothers and sisters often get restless waiting for riders to finish. No dogs are allowed outside of their owners automobiles.
