Show Jumping Lessons

North Field Farm provides show jumping lessons to youth girls in the Roswell, Crabapple, Alpharetta, East Cobb, and Milton GA Area.

After riders at North Field Farm master the basics of horsemanship and control, many become interested in competitions. At this point we begin to specialize in what is commonly called "show jumping." Show jumping ranges from quite manageable small jumps all the way to international olympic meets.

Riders in a "Jumper" class are required to jump a course of obstacles - usually twelve to sixteen jumps. In the event of a tie, riders do a "jump-off' over a shortened course. If two or more entries have the same score after the Jump-off, the winner is decided by the shortest time. The best entries are horses that are careful, brave enough to jump a variety of obstacles quickly, and most importantly, are very responsive and obedient. Likewise, the successful riders are very adept at control.

Students in our program practice control to the point that it is almost automatic. Smooth responses by the horse and precise choices of path, turns, and speed usually make the difference in results. These are time proven strategies in a sport where top to bottom placing's are often within a range of a second or two. it is all very exciting and we are delighted with our winning record.
